Event horizon – it’s the far edge of spacetime, where gravity goes weird and particles sizzle. We’re going to the far edges of poetry with four sizzling, out-there poets:

  • Shane Book – his Congotronic, shortlisted for the Griffin Prize, pops with “Afrofuturism coagulated with an R&B grin.” His word-play fights gravity and runs the gamut from outraged to absurd.
  • Douglas Barbour – legend of Canada’s sound poetry scene, bringing a brand-new book, Listen. If, to the junction of words and visual art, love and landscape, politics and jazz.
  • Claire Kelly – launches her debut collection, Maunder. It steps from image to image, place to place, home to away.
  • Joel Katelnikoff – a hacker of literature, out to disrupt the codes and copyrights, uses techniques of cut-up, re-mix, montage in his series Inhabitations: A Recombinant Theory Project.

Expect to have your horizons of “what poetry is” blown apart.
