As most of Canada celebrates 150 years of colonialism, it is a time for our Indigenous nations’ writers to reflect on what truth and reconciliation means.

Beyond the treaties.
Beyond the laws.
Beyond the lies that have oppressively and systemically worked to “kill the Indian,” there is a persistent and political campaign for reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Canada.

What does this mean?

Reconciliation is not a word within most Indigenous languages but has become a feel-good buzzword of today. How do we work towards reconciliation, and with whom? How do we reclaim our words and spaces to revive, reinvent or revise Indigenous identity?

Join Marilyn Dumont, Norma Dunning and guests for an evening of local poetry about some current worldviews of Indigenous Canada, Beyond Reconciliation.
