2007 Cultural Capital Projects
Edmonton has been designated the 2007 Cultural Capital of Canada and the Edmonton Poetry Festival will be a major component of the Cultural Capital Program. This adds some very exciting projects to our festival this year.
The theme of the cultural capital celebration is ‘Building Connections.’ Activities funded through the federal grant money will create poetry in connection with the city’s aboriginal community, with its diverse cultural groups and with street youth.
The Cultural Capital funding will also support a two-day community symposium at Grant MacEwan’s Alberta College Campus in downtown Edmonton, complete with a wrap-up gala in the intimate Muttart Hall.
