The Poetry Sweatshop 2010
Two fingers plus mix
Saturday April 24, 2010
3:00pm – 5:00pm
The Artery · 9535 Jasper Avenue
Event Details
Rated 18A for extreme violence, graphic nudity, explict language, excessive alcohol use, and terrible hack poetry.
What do you get when you take one part drinking game, one part poetry workshop and two parts public humiliation? The big fat sweatshop!
Participation is not for the faint of heart…or stomach. You will be expected to write on command, produce small works of genius in mere minutes, and when called upon, perform them in front of a room of ravenous literary connoisseurs. You may NOT “pass” — opt out of an assignment or refuse to read. Doing so will get you booted to the spectator side of the arena.
If you are a spectator, you will be expected to be loud, to cheer on, or to heckle our poetic gladiators with the exuberance of the bloodthirsty wolves that you are.
Admission is free, but donations to defray the costs of the event are welcome. Please note there will be no advanced sign up for this event…be in line at 3pm if you dare.
