Laurie MacFayden is a poet and visual artist who has lived in Edmonton since 1984. Her third poetry collection, Walking Through Turquoise, will be released in September 2017 (Frontenac House). Her first two books, Kissing Keeps Us Afloat and White Shirt, won Golden Crown Literary Society awards and White Shirt was also shortlisted for the 2011 Lambda Literary Awards. MacFayden spent more than 30 years as a journalist, most recently as a copy/web editor at the Edmonton Journal. Her work has appeared in The New Quarterly, FreeFall, Queering The Way, and DailyHaiku I: A Daily Shot of Zen; and performed in Edmonton’s Loud & Queer cabaret and Q the Arts Festival in Calgary.
